When we lose motivation, it can feel like we’ve completely fallen off track. One missed training session turns into a week, healthy habits disappear, and suddenly even the things we usually love doing feel hard. But the truth is, motivation isn’t something that magically stays forever. It comes and goes for everyone, especially for girls balancing school, sport, friendships, work and life. The key is learning how to keep showing up even when motivation dips.

Sometimes we think we need to feel motivated before we start, but most of the time motivation actually comes after taking action. That first walk, first training session, first stretch or first step back into routine is usually the hardest part. Once you begin moving again, your confidence slowly follows. That’s why creating small habits is so important. Instead of telling yourself you need to completely “restart”, focus on doing one thing each day that makes you feel good. Even something simple like putting on your favourite girls activewear set or doing your hair nicely can help shift your mindset and get you back into routine.

Comparison can also steal motivation really quickly. Social media constantly shows highlight reels of athletes, influencers and people who seem to always have their life together. But behind every strong athlete, dancer or sporty girl is someone who has also struggled with motivation, confidence and setbacks. Progress is never perfectly consistent, and that’s okay.

One of the best ways to regain motivation is reconnecting with why you started in the first place. Maybe sport makes you feel confident, strong, happy or connected to your friends. Maybe training helps clear your mind after school. When we focus less on pressure and more on how movement makes us feel, motivation becomes easier to rebuild.

At Chasing Oso we believe confidence starts by simply showing up as yourself. Whether it’s putting on your favourite girls sportswear, heading to training or taking small steps toward your goals, every little effort counts. Motivation won’t always be there, but consistency, self belief and remembering your “why” will always take you further.
